Another top notch book in the Photoshop Cookbook series. For all serious Photoshop users out there, I hope that if you are reading this review and you don’t already have ALL the books in this line that you order the entire series now and stop reading. It’s rare that books are this exquisite, in terms of material that is offered, and the gorgeous layout used in these books. Full color, high grade paper, well separated examples, and most important, examples that you will actually be able to apply to your own Photoshop projects instead of just saying “wow that’s neat but it’s too difficult for me to be able to do” because with these books in hand you will be able to do ANYTHING outlined in them!!
If you use Photshop and you want to learn how to turn your boring images in works of art, pick up this book and get to work!!

This book is great if you aren’t looking for too much explanation into what you are doing. I began to read this book at my local super book store, and wrote down the information. I like this book because it gives me the information I want to do what I need to, without all the fluff and stuff of other books.

I am a firm believer that cookbooks should remain in the kitchen. This book did not really provide me with any new recipes of use. The one recipe I did want to use for a client operation, I resourced the online materials and followed it through but was unable to have it turn out. If the experiment was a cake, it would have been in the compost bin.
Most of the book is taken up with two page layouts that show you how different effects work. Well I have been pretty familiar with the graphic pen filter for a long time, so most of the book which touched on those was wasted pulp.
There was nothing here that really wowed me about either the work, the layout or the subject matter. Maybe a first entry user of Photoshop might find it interesting , but I can’t really recommend this title to a serious Photoshop user. I couldn’t even give this book away at my user group meeting.

This is a good book however; I do miss the step by step instructions to create an photo. CS3 do is a heavy professional program and do have very much possibilities. A beginner does not know all the tools and gadgets what are build inn. The most simply case like: how to cut that part from your picture to create a better look a like photo is one of these delays. Not everybody does know how to use specific tools. This is a missing point for a really good written book.
